Go Away, Little Loser

One of the iron verities of this strange presidential election cycle has been that if you attack Donald Trump, he will attack you right back, often with treble the vitriol. You cannot blame Bobby Jindal for assuming his over-the-top assault on Trump in a heavily advertised (but not that heavily attended) National Press Club speech yesterday would earn him a thermonuclear response guaranteeing maximum media attention.

But The Donald did not cooperate:

.... I only respond to people that register more than 1% in the polls. I never thought he had a chance and I’ve been proven right.

Last night Jindal tried to stay on a roll, telling CBS News that Trump had no business dissing Carly Fiorina's appearance when "he looks like he's got a squirrel on his head." Good one, Bobby!

This did gain him one more Trump tweet this morning:

Oh wow, lightweight Governor @BobbyJindal, who is registered at less than 1 percent in the polls, just mocked my hair. So original!

It will be interesting to see if Jindal keeps this up, and if Trump refuses to rise to the bait. We're kinda in uncharted territory here; I can't recall any precedent for a presidential candidate referring to another candidate from the same party as a "madman."

If Trump really wanted to crush Bobby, he'd commission of poll of the 2016 Republican presidential nominating contest in Louisiana.
