Day's End and Night Watch

Under three weeks until Phil Steele's 2015 college football preview comes out, in case you were wondering.

Here are some remains of the day:

* Friday House vote on fast-track still on schedule despite new Democratic complaints about deal to pay for trade adjustment assistance.

* Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner setting dubious precedent in setting up and financing Super PAC to promote his legislative agenda.

* At Ten Miles Square, Anne Kim notes that despite an upsurge in political donations by women, they represent just a tiny percentage of top donors.

* At College Guide, Daniel Luzer reports an incipient faculty exit from the University of Wisconsin as budget cuts and a proposed end to tenure grow closer thanks to the state's GOP governor and legislature.

* At The Grade, Alexander Russo notes a rare outburst of conservative media criticism of Teach for America.

And in non-political news:

* Two buses collide in Lincoln Tunnel, injuring 30 people, though none of them were the Canadian school children in one of the vehicles.

That's it for Wednesday. We'll close with a rare video of a live performance of "Smokestack Lightning" by Howlin' Wolf in 1964.
