Woke up in the middle of the night with sinus issues, then had a nose running like a faucet, then had to sit upright for a while to regularize it all. Lord knows what noxious thing is blooming here in paradise, but it robbed me of some important sleep.
Here are some remains of the day:
* Two Democratic FEC commissioners take unprecedented step of publicly demanding agency vigilence over widly uncontrolled campaign spending activities, but three GOP commissioners are almost certain to demand inaction.
* Merkel credited with key role in convincing Canada and Japan to join G7 greenhouse gas emissions goals.
* Greg Sargent reports Sens. Flake and Kaine about to make new push for congressional use of force resolution on Islamic State.
* At Ten Miles Square, Anne Kim reports on new effort in Texas to help supply financial services in "banking deserts" where consumer credit not available.
* At College Guide, Jill Barshay discusses a Urban Institute report suggesting the real student loan problem populations are grad students, dropouts, and those attending for-profit schools.
* At The Grade, Alexander Russo wonders if Rick Perry still wants to abolish the Department of Education--one of the two targets he actually could remember in that famous 2011 debate gaffe.
And in non-political news:
* Apple Music--the long-awaited streaming music service--arrives.
That's it for Monday. Let's close with one of the lesser-known tracks from Boz's big mainstream album from 1976, Silk Degrees. It's pop perfection: "Love Me Tomorrow."
Selah.
